In addition to its funerary function, the Tumulus of Dissignac reveals a stunning level of astronomical knowledge. The two entrance corridors are oriented in such a way that, every year on the morning of the winter solstice, the rays of the rising sun align perfectly to strike the back of the burial chambers.
